Best Quick and Easy Frozen Chocolate Milk Recipe

Few things compare to the simple joys of childhood, like a big cold glass of chocolate milk on a hot summer day. But when did you last enjoy a glass of frozen hot chocolate? Whatever time of the year, whether it’s a hot day or the middle of the winter months, this chocolatey cold drink is a great way to add a little festivity to your day from the first sip right down to the bottom of the glass.
I remember when I was growing up, there came a time in the afternoon, around three p.m., and it always seemed like the sleepiest part of the day. The morning’s excitement had come and gone, and the rush of lunch and afternoon activities had passed. There was nothing to do but wait for the evening. It was a part of the day that made you want to take a nap, whether you were tired or not.
I remember that same feeling carrying over when I got older and began working before having kids. There was no more energy from the morning coffee to get you through the workday! It’s time for another jolt of caffeine or a sweet treat to carry you through until 5:00 clock out. I’ve discovered that my children get this same kind of depletion of energy some afternoons, and one of our favorite summertime pick-me-ups is a quick cup of frozen chocolate milk together on the swings outside while soaking up some late afternoon sunshine as a family.
Ingredients
1 Can of Coconut Milk (approximately 1 1/3 cups)
1 1/3 cups whole Milk
3 Tablespoons of Cocoa Powder
3 Tablespoons Raw Honey
5 Ice Cubes
Optional: Top with Whipped Cream
Directions
Pour the coconut milk and milk into the blender. I usually skip the measuring and just fill the empty coconut can with milk and pour that in. Add the cocoa powder, honey, and ice cubes and blend until the ice is well incorporated but not so long that it loses its iciness. 10-15 seconds is usually good. Taste the mixture before serving, and if desired, add more honey or cocoa powder to taste.
Pour into glasses and top with whipped cream if desired. Enjoy!
To make your own version, try putting your own spin on it! We enjoy fun twists such as adding dark chocolate or milk chocolate chips into the blender for extra chocolate flavor or pouring chocolate syrup on top of your whipped cream for an extra special garnish. Whatever you decide to add, or if you choose to stick with the original simple ingredients, you won’t want to go back to using a hot cocoa mix or hot chocolate powder from the grocery store after you realize just how easy it is to whip up this chocolatey goodness from scratch!
